Colossians 3:14 Regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. (msg)
Do you wear love in everything you do? It’s not easy to show love to everyone, actually it’s hard to do when people hurt us or someone we love. We are to be like Christ. What did He showed to people? Was he walking around all the time with a chip on his shoulder, or mad at the world, or did he have a my way or no way attitude. No! He always spoke in love to others, about others, and in defence of others. One of the main focuses of the New Testament is for us to learn how to live a life of love.
Even in the last days Jesus was alive, when He was in front of Pilate and they read all the accusations He was being accused of, Jesus said nothing. He didn’t hate them, scream that it was unfair, that He was a victim and it wasn’t his fault. He didn’t say a word, He spoke love through his not saying a word! He loved us so much that He said nothing in His own defense. He knew He had to die so that we could live in right standing with His Father. He knew He was the only way we would ever be able to be with His Father.
The next time you are in a situation where someone has done something to hurt you instead of getting angry, or trying to get them back. Just say a quick prayer for them and choose to not get angry. We can choose how we react to people and what they do to us. Make a choice to deal with things in love. Take it one day at a time, one incidence at a time and watch how the the Lord changes you! You will be the one that really changes, you will not feel anger as much as you did before, you will see someone who has hurt you and not feel like you could rip their heads off, but you will say a prayer for them, for Jesus to move in their life just like He did in yours.
Lord, Please help me to feel love towards _____________ for hurting me or causing the pain in my life. Lord help me forgive _____________ and help me to pray for them. Lord move in there life just like You are moving in mine. Amen
