Family Favorite Recipes
We all have those recipes that our family just loves. We are no exception. Our family loves smothered cabbage. We eat in quite a bit and never tire of it. I have a recipe that you are going to quickly have become one of your families favorite go to meals.
Keto Friendly Recipe
If you are on a Keto diet you can eat this and still be very low in carbs. I have this at least once a week with a small amount of meat. I can eat it alone on it’s on. It’s one of those comfort foods that make you feel like you are cheating on your diet when really you aren’t.
If you would like to know our Keto Story you can find it here.
Simple Quick and Easy
This recipe is simple and very quick to put together. The basic recipe is only three ingredients, Cabbage, bacon, and a little onion. Of course you can add the seasonings of your choice to make this recipe you’re own. I only add a little salt and pepper and just cook it all together when I put the cabbage into my pot.
I just love simple and quick recipes that are fast and easy to make. This recipe fits the bill, so to speak. Next time you have a chance, pick up a small head of cabbage and a pack of your favorite bacon and give my recipe a try.

The pot I am using in the video is a great pot I received it as a wedding gift years ago as a gift. You can see it here It is deep enough to hold a medium sized cabbage and has a thick bottom so it won’t burn your bacon. My pot is about 35 years old and doesn’t have the handy handle on the opposite side of the long handle that’s the only difference.
I Bought New Pots
Since I have written this post I have purchased a new set of pots that I use all the time. I have made cabbage in them a lot. They are some of the best pots I have ever cooked with. Here is the link to my Amazon Store so you can check them out. The down side to them is they are heavy because they are enameled cast iron pots. They will last many lifetimes and they are pots you pass down to your kids when they are older. I have my mother-in-laws cast iron pots and my grandmothers cast iron pots and I cook with them all the time too. These pots bring back memories of cooking with them. Neither one would let me cook but I so enjoyed watching them in the kitchen they moved so seamlessly and created such beautiful and simple meals that everyone loved.
Let me know in the comments below how your smothered cabbage turned out. What changes did you make that was a hit with your family? I would love to hear how you spiced it up.

This sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing your recipe. 🙂
Cabbage and bacon are a match made in heaven, I sometimes do this as a stirfry and side dish with white fish, Not heard of smothered cabbage though, that’s definitely a new one to investigate!
I feel like I haven’t had cabbage in forever, but the recipe looks good! I’ll also have to check out your muffin recipe!
