Caramelized Brussel Sprouts With Balsamic Reduction Sauce

August 19, 2016 by Sherry

Happy Friday all! We have finally conquered another busy week of work, play and endless To Do Lists. It is now time to get ready for the weekend, to slow down, relax a little, and plan to do only one project and complete it over the weekend. I have my project planned and ready to conquer.

I want to share a recipe I worked on this week perfecting to create an end of summer, beautiful and delicious recipe that uses Brussel Sprouts.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. It has a wonderful earthy flavor with just a pinch of zing to create that wow, this is good feeling.

Enjoy!

Caramelized Brussel Sprouts with Balsamic Reduction Sauce

1/2 lb Brussel Sprouts
2 Strips bacon  ( I used Smith field All Natural Uncured Bacon)
1/2 Cup Chicken Stock
1/4 Cup Balsamic Vinegar
2 Sprigs Thyme
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 Red Onion (just a few slices)
1 Clove Garlic (just a large pinch)

Directions:

Cook bacon, set pan aside to use grease to cook Brussel sprouts.
wash and cut Brussel sprouts in half
cook Brussel sprouts, onion, garlic in bacon drippings til  browned (about 8 minutes)

Place the Balsamic sauce in small pan on medium heat and reduce by half set aside
chop bacon
Add salt, pepper and thyme and bacon to chicken stock and add to pan of Brussel sprouts and cook uncovered until stock is all soaked into the  Brussel sprouts

Put in bowl and drizzle balsamic reduction sauce over top of Brussel sprouts
Enjoy!

Be sure to share this to your Pinterest boards so you will have it later. It would make an awesome dish for the holidays and so simple to make.
Have a wonderful weekend!
