Good Friday to everyone. I apologize to everyone for not posting last night. My last client ended late and I just crashed when I came home. I did read the Proverb as I do everyday, after a while you remember certain one and say to your self yep, I did that today, I’m proud of myself.
The Proverbs are great ways to check your spirit everyday. Sometimes you have to say, no I didn’t cut it today and move on to be a better person, boss, employee, wife, mother, son, daughter. They Proverbs are words of life to you everyday that helps you stay on the right path.
Well here are my insights on Proverbs One. I love this one because it starts out your month on a note of what you need to do everyday, it shows you the best choices you can make in your life. It cuts to the chase in the first chapter. I will have to break down the Chapters so you get the best idea of the theme of each one. I don’t want you to miss anything that can help you on your life’s journey that is why I putting this in writing.
In verses 1-6
It tells you what the book of Proverbs will do for your life if you take it’s lessons and apply them to your life. The book will give you wisdom and disciplined life full of understanding and deep insight. We all need more of this in our lives. We should always be in a state of learning in our lives. We should never stop learning, when we think we have arrived then we stop really living. The Proverbs when applied to your life on a daily basis will bring you a deep understanding of what life is about, the important things. I will let you fill in your important things. It’s good to make a list of the things that mean the most to you. Update it often and review it daily because then you know the “why “of why you get up and go to work, school everyday. I have a list in my Bible that marks where I am in Proverbs, it’s a list of the 30 most important things in my life. I read this list everyday. I work on doing and fulfilling them every day. They are kinda like goals I work on everyday. Make a list today of your most important things. Then try to do something everyday to do something pertaining to that important goal. You will begin to see your life change when you focus on whats important.
It also talks in verses 1-6 of your life will become intelligently disciplined. What that means is you begin to do what is right, what is fair and what is just. You begin to think about your actions. Why you do the things you do. You start looking at the outcomes you got from the things you did then you start to wonder how can I change the outcome I got when you didn’t like what happened. That is living an intelligently disciplined life. You change the things you don’t like. The behavior, your words, your habits, your clothes that express who you are, all these things express who we are to others around us. Sometimes this is good and sometimes we must change to become the person we want to be. Successful people do not do certain things, we must learn what we have to change to get to where we want to be in life.
This is the most important thing in Chapter one:
“The fear of God is the beginning of knowledge,
Fools despise wisdom and knowledge” this is verse 7 it is very profound. Fearing God doesn’t mean that He is going to be a slave driver and a party pooper, it means you set standards for your life. You love something that is higher than you and you give Him control in your life. You life becomes balanced and you have a life with meaning. If we don’t have meaning then what is your life about? It gives us balance and control settings for our life. We don’t just make things up as we go, fly by the seat of our pants so to say. That kind of life is the life of a fool with no wisdom and knowledge. To have the life we truly want to have we must have a plan to follow. That way when we get off track we know what to do to get back on track.
A foolish person lives life vicariously fun-loving and never has a true path in life. They are the people who most of the time say, boy I wish I had done this or that. They have a life of regrets and at the end of their life they are wishing they could have changed things. The rest of the chapter talks of what this kind of person is, and tells us Don’t be like this, it leads to regret and it destroys our lives.
In verses 8-9. It tells us a secret to a good life.
We must heed the discipline of our father and mother. Weather we like it or not. It tells us we must not abandon the teachings they have taught us. Of the two most important people in your life the two are your mother and father. They must have our love, respect, and we must follow in discipline. That can lengthen our life. That is the promise God gives us. Go the other way and disrespect you father and mother and have no love for them and your life will follow a downward path of destruction that is a promise from God as well. I know so many people who have followed this path and have ended up in a very sad life. One of drugs, alcohol, disrespecting there on bodies just living with who ever will pay your bills and when they get tired of you, you just move on to the next victim in your life. You let money become your God instead of God himself. You seek for wealth but your habits take control of your life, and that undisciplined life takes your money, self-esteem, your heart and mind. You become cold to the people who love you and you just strive to feed your habits and your lifestyle which becomes more out of control every passing day. Then you find your self with out family and true friends, you are all alone. This is a harsh example but there are many examples of people with undisciplined lives that look successful but are not. They settle for the lesser because it is easy. They settle for that nine to five job when they can be so much more they just haven’t disciplined themselves to do what they really want to do because it take working at it every day and because they are afraid of failure. So they never really try.
In the last few verses in the first proverb is talks about the one that is out for money and they get it any way they can. They are the people who look out for them selves and don’t care about anyone. They want the money and they don’t want to work honestly for it. These people are very dangerous to a disciplined life. They are constantly doing something not good. They are predators that look for the weak and destroy lives along their way. There is a promise that comes with this type of life style. It will take your life. You might have your fun or think you’re having fun but in the end it takes your life from you.
In verses 20 to the end of the chapture
It talks of how God is waiting for us to ask for His wisdom and knowledge and how He longs for us to choose the path that is honorable and just. But when we turn away He will turn and laugh at your distress He will mock when terror comes to us. because He called out to us but we turned the other way. So when things get tough for the foolish He turns the other way He won’t answer them. verse twenty-eight, they will seek me but will not find me. They refused my counsel. So God allows us to bear the consequences of our actions. He will not bail us out . But when we turn to Him with a humble heart and a truly repentant heart He is right there, He actually was one step behind you all along just waiting for you to ask Him for forgiveness. That is how much God really loves us.
God doesn’t destroy our lives we do, by the choices we make and the people we chose to become.
Chose your path wisely. It will save your life.
